Defibrillator

CHVC is extremely grateful for the efforts of Cliff Palmer in securing a grant from Mount Alexander Shire Council for the provision of a defibrillator and First Aid kit for use during club events.  Jan King who was instrumental in Highlighting the need for a defibrillator is also to be congratulated.

CPR Training - Tues 3 Feb

A group of 14 members attended the training on Tuesday the 3rd February,  for the defib that we have acquired to take on Club runs in the future. Bron Grieves and Melodie Cameron from Dhelkaya Health took us through basic CPR and the use of the de fib.

Throughout the session they shared some excellent resources and Apps to assist in locating the person with the phone if they are away from an identified geographical points, crossroads, etc.

The Emergency Plus app provides an ability to call 000, a GPS location, a map of your location and triangulation of your location.  One worth having!  The other advice was to ring 112 if there is no mobile signal and this will connect the user to the nearest tower and link to the emergency services.

The session was very interactive and some members took the opportunity to practise their CPR skills on the ResusiAnnie mannequin.

As a result of the session, we will be adding a Hi Vis jacket to the kit and some additional razors (in case we have any hairy chested members).

Our defib will provide you with instructions on how to use it. It comes in a sealed case to stop it getting dusty or wet.

Those in attendance were:
